Si pensabáis que con Sonic Speed 2 sería suficiente, sorry, estabáis equivocados. Y es que tenemos un nuevo proyecto en mente, un spin-off por así decirlo, en el que nos encantaría que participaráis, pues no sólo Sonic nos ha dado horas y horas de diversión. Puede que SEGA ya no haga más consolas, o que algunos piensen que ya no está a la altura de antaño; pero sí es cierto que es una compañia legendaria con juegos y personajes de igual calibre. Y eso es a lo que queremos rendir homenaje en este fanbook, con el título provisional de "art through the AGES", un tributo a todo el legado que ha dejado esta compañia; que no es poco. Desde Outrun y After Burner hasta Alien y Bayonetta, cómo si queréis hacer algo de Space Harrier, Bonanza Bros, Alex Kidd, Wonder Boy, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Cop, Sakura Wars, Segata Sanshiro, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel, etc, etc. Tenéis miles de dónde escoger, sin restricción de si es arcade or consola.
Qué hacer para participar?
Para inscribiros debéis enviar un mail a sonic.speed.fanzine@gmail.com con un título que incluya "[SEGA fanbook]" indicando los siguientes puntos:
-Nombre/Nick
-Colaborarás con cómic y/o ilustración?
-Número aproximado de páginas/ilustraciones que tienes pensado hacer (el límite en número dependerá del número de participantes final). Si es un cómic, también puedes incluir un breve resumen de la idea que tienes pensado.
-Juegos/personajes/escenas que tendrías pensado tratar
-Enlace a algún sitio web que muestre tus trabajos ( p.e. vuestro DA, tumblr, etc), o también adjuntando dibujos al mail.
-Has colaborado en algún fanzine/fanbook con anterioridad?
Aquí más detalles que debéis en cuenta:
- El rating es máximo PG-13.
- La impresión es en color. Aunque si haces imágenes en B&W con un estilo interesante también se aceptarán.
- Tamaño de página debe ser 151x216mm a 600 dpi (preferiblemente orientación vertical), con zona de sangrado de 3mm a cada lado. El archivo debe ser JPG a muy buena calidad, con color CMYK.
- Como esto es más propiamente un fanbook es mucho más preferible que se contribuyan ilustraciones antes que cómics.
- Máximo 2 o 3 ilustraciones por persona, evitando en lo posible repetir un mismo tema (esto se hablará caso a caso). Si se quiere hacer cómic no más de 2 o 3 páginas, algo corto en plan humor sería lo mejor, preferiblemente también a color.
- Sobretodo variedad. Ya sabemos que Sonic juega un papel primordial en la historia de SEGA, pero no es cuestión de que sea el tema principal; ya tenemos una publicación dedicada en exclusiva al erizo, si os apetece contribuir ahí también
Inscríbite a SONIC SPEED 2 - Aunque somos conscientes de que no el mundo tiene por qué ser un auténtico maestro del dibujo, habrá un mínimo control de calidad, para que el nivel de acabado quede míninamente nivelado, intentando valorar el esfuerzo y el acabado. Se da por descontado, pero por si acaso, no se aceptará ningún tipo de arte copiado, calcado, o excesivamente "basado en" arte oficial; más que nada para ahorrarnos futuros problemas.
- Aunque no os obligaremos a ceder la exclusividad total de los trabajos que enviéis sólo para el fanzine, sí que agradeceríamos un exclusividad temporal, de al menos unos cuantos meses después de lanzar el fanzine (medio año por ejemplo). Después de eso sois libres de hacer lo que queráis. Pero si aún así queréis publicar algo antes de tiempo, poneros en contacto y lo podemos hablar :).
- Y por último, no menos importante, esto es un fanbook sin ánimo de lucro, hecho por fans y para fans, para rendir tributo a los juegos de SEGA. Aunque no hay compensación económica, cada participante tendrá una copia del fanbook (gastos de envío a parte). Por supuesto también se dará el correspondiente crédito a todos los autores en el fanzine, es ya era por descontado
La fecha límite de entrega es la primera semana de junio de 2014, imposible de aplazarlo más. Sí es, bastante justo de tiempo, pero es por un buen motivo que se confirmará pronto.

If you thought that with Sonic Speed 2 would be enough, sorry, you were wrong. Because we have a new project in mind, a spin-off if you will, in which we would love you to participate, since not only Sonic has given us hours and hours of fun. SEGA may not make any more consoles, or some people may think it's not the giant it once was; but one thing is true, and that it's a legendary developer with games and character of the same fame. And that's what we want to pay homage to in this fanbook, with the provisional title of "art through the AGES", a tribute to the legacy this company has given us so far; which is nowhere near of small. What to do to join?
To sign up you must send an email to sonic.speed.fanzine@gmail.com with the title including "[SEGA fanbook]" providing the following:
- Name/Nick
- What will you be contributing, illustrations and/or comics?
- Which games/characters are you planning to draw?
- Aproximate number of pages planned to do (limit will depend of the final number of people inscribed). If it's a comic, a brief synopsis shouls also be included.
- Link to your art gallery of choice, displaying your works (DA, tumblr, etc), or attaching pcitures to the email.
- Have you ever work in a fanzine before?
Once sent, we'll contact you shortly after and let you know if you're in. Here are some further considerations to take in consideration before joining:
- This is all about SEGA games and their characters. Not restriction on console or arcade, developed or published by them, even third-party exclusives on their time, such as Streets of Rage and Pulseman (unless it's not relevant enough). Also there should be no fan-characters and such.
- Rating must be PG-13 at most (Mild fanservice and/or blood)
- The book will be printed in color, so works in color are preferred, unless you do a B&W style picture with a given technique (Madworld comes to mind, for example).
- Page size must be 151x216mm at 600dpi (vertical orientation if possible, if it's horizontal just let us know in advance), with a cutting margin of 3mm at each side. File format should be JPG at very good quality, in CMYK color format.
- Since this is a fanbook illustrations are much preferred over comics. They should be unreleased works.
- Maximum of about 2 or 3 illustrations per artist, trying to avoid game/character overlapping (will be treated case by case). If you want to make a comic it should be something simple, maybe of comedic nature, of around 2 pages.
- Remember people, variety. We know Sonic is a huge hallmark for SEGA, and is of course accepted in this book, but this is a fanbook about everything this company has put out; if you want to do lots of Sonic works so badly, we have another project for that ;) Sign up for SONIC SPEED 2
- While you don't have to possess incredible art skills, we're aiming for an acceptable standard of quality to keep the finished feel a bit more even, so we reserve the right to not accept a work if it doesn't meet our criteria. Also it should be a given, but just in case, your art should not be copied/traced/based off too much on official art.
- While we won't enforce total exclusivity of the works submitted just for the printed fanbook only, we would appreciate at least a temporal exclusivity of most of the pictures, for a couple of months after releasing the fanbook (for example half a year). After that you're free to what you want. If you still want to publish something earlier, we can talk it out :).
- And lastly, but no less important, this is after all a non-profit fanbook, made by fans for fans, to pay tribute to SEGA games. While no economic compensation is given, every contributor will get a free copy of the fanbook (shipping costs at their expense, and if not possible to arrange that, a digital copy will be sent). And of course proper credit would be given, that's a given. :)
Due date is the first week of June of 2014, and it's impossible to extend. I know, it's really close, but it's because of a pretty good reason which will be confirmed soon.
